Do you struggle with halitosis? What is halitosis? It’s the scientific term for bad breath. So, are you always nervously checking your breath?
It plagues millions of Americans and people all around the world. There are even records of ancient civilizations whipping up remedies for bad breath as well. Seems as if it’s been a human problem for centuries.
Take just a minute to read through our home remedies that give you the power to conquer bad breath.
#1 Clean up your mouth
Food and bacteria are the sources of that awful smell. The less you brush your teeth and floss, then the worse your breath is going to be. If you can, brush after meals to remove food particles wedged in your teeth. This will greatly reduce any chances of having bad breath and you’ll be more confident speaking with coworkers, customers, clients, friends and family.
#2 Stop, your mouth is drying out
Saliva is a natural cleanser for your mouth and teeth. Without regularly consuming water or other liquids your mouth will dry out, and a dry mouth is the optimal place for bacteria, which leads to bad breath.
We recommend keeping a water bottle nearby. Grab a quick swig every few minutes and keep your mouth moist. Sounds odd, but it can work wonders for your breath. Go ahead, try it for a week and see what you think.
#3 Grab a fresh veggie and snack
A few carrots or celery sticks make for a natural mouth cleanser. It’s true! Fresh vegetables actually fight plaque and improve the health of your mouth. And the healthier your mouth is, the fresher your breath will be. You want fresh breath right? Munch on a few carrots, celery or other fresh vegetables.
Just make sure to avoid the ranch dip if you’re wanting to conquer bad breath. Ranch isn’t proven to enhance your breath. Actually, it probably makes it worse, so just stay away.
#4 Take a breather, just don’t breathe on someone
How are your stress levels? Is your workload getting to you? Stress negatively affects your body in multiple ways and it dries out your mouth. A dry mouth equals a mouthful of bad breath.
It’s time to relax a bit. Let the stresses of life slide off your shoulders and let the bad breath be whisked away with a bit of rest. Taking a 15-minute break at work to relax and restore your body will keep that horrid breath away, and you’ll be happier and more productive too.
These aren’t your only remedies for bad breath, but these are several great options you can implement at home. If you’re looking for more or need more information regarding chronic bad breath that’s what we’re here for.
